Babysitter's Training


This training provides babysitters with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training develops leadership skills and training in basic child care and basic first aid. The training below covers leadership skills and basic child care/first aid in addition to the skills below:


Recognize an emergency & identify and apply the emergency action steps

Identify and apply the emergency action steps

Identify life-threatening and nonlife-threatening emergencies

How to check a conscious child or infant

How to care for bleeding and burns

Help a conscious child or infant who is choking

How to give care to an unconscious child or infant not breathing

How to control external bleeding


Course Information


Length: 6 hours, 30 minutes

Instructed by a currently authorized American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training instructor.


Certification Requirement

• Attend all class sessions.

• Participate in all skill sessions and activities.

• Demonstrate competency in all observable skills.


Certificate Issued and Validity Period

Babysitter’s Training: No validity period
